Endocannabinoid system in the Human Body

Before we can speak about CBD (cannabidiol) and the effect it has on the body and ultimately your health, we need to understand what the endocannabinoid system is.

As one of the most important systems maintaining health throughout the body, the endogenous cannabinoid system with its cannabinoids and receptors are found:

  • in the brain
  • organs
  • tissues and
  • immune system
[/list_circle] It has different tasks in each tissue and cell, but the main purpose is to bring homeostasis to your body, no matter fluctuations in the external environment.

So what does CBD or cannabinoid do then?

Hands down the effect of CBD’s found in medicinal marijuana together with THC could be seen as nothing less than a miracle.

One process called autophagy is where the cannabinoid system mediates certain parts of a cell to be self-digested and recycled to keep the cell healthy, but at the same time it has a deadly effect on malignant cancer cells causing them to consume themselves and “commit suicide”.

Thus homeostasis of the specific organ is restored.

Cannabinoids or endocannabinoids can also be found in various intersections of the body acting as a communicator or coordinator between different cells.

When there is an injury for example, it acts in 3 different ways on 3 different cells to minimize pain and damaged caused by the injury. It furthermore acts as a bridge between body and mind that ultimately has an effect on the external as well.

Why does the body have Cannabinoid Receptors?

Throughout the body in all membranes cannabinoid receptors are found.

It is believed that there are more cannabinoid receptors in the body than any other receptor. Two major receptors have been identified; CB1 and CB2.

CB1 receptors are mainly found in the nervous systems, glands organs and connective tissues.

CB2 receptors are found in the immune system-

Many tissues have both and each is linked to a different action.

In medicinal marijuana THC is most known to stimulate the cannabinoid receptors and has psychoactive effects. CBD however while stimulating the cannabinoid receptors in the same way as THC is the exact opposite as far as psychoactive effects go. CBD actually acts as anti-psychoactive. That’s why now days CBD (cannabidoil) and CNB (cannabinoil) and their healing effects are reaching far more attention.

Endocannabinoid system get’s more research

With more and more research done, the vastness of cannabis plant is better understood and the wide effect is has on health issues is getting clearer by the day.

Even though some people and even medical doctors still have a closed mind to the effect it has on our health, it can no longer be denied. The number of people trying out CBD products with some phenomenal results is growing.

Endocannabinoid system research is showing that small doses of cannabinoids from cannabis positively signals the body to manufacture more endocannabinoids and more cannabinoid receptors are built.

When cannabis is regularly taken it acts as a healing factor on the central physiological system.

With all this knowledge about the healing properties of medical marijuana and research to back it up, it would be a shame to turn away from this miracle plant.

Our body’s Endocannabinoid system has natural receptors for the cannabinoids in cannabis and the medicinal properties are not new to the world. Ancient India, Tibet and China have used this for many years.

Cannabis is safe and natural.

Why not take full advantage of it?
